The Midwest Energy Consumers Group represents the interests of large commercial and industrial customers before the Missouri Public Service Commission, the Kansas Corporation Commission and in the Missouri General Assembly. MECG represents approximately 55 large companies employing over 70,000 employees and using approximately 3.5 billion kWh's at an annual total cost of over $300,000,000. MECG is active in electric matters involving Ameren, Evergy Missouri Metro (formerly KCPL), Evergy Missouri West (formerly KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Company) and Liberty-Empire (formerly the Empire District Electric Company) in Missouri as well as Evergy Kansas Metro (formerly KCPL) and Evergy Kansas Central (formerly Westar) in Kansas.
Furthermore, MECG represents customer interests in gas cases involving Spire Missouri (formerly Laclede and Missouri Gas Energy), and Empire District Gas Company. Additionally, MECG is active in water cases involving Missouri American Water Company. Finally, MECG has been instrumental in opposing harmful utility legislation in the Missouri General Assembly the last several years.
